Tobey Maguire and co-stars will start filming Spiderman 4 in February next year, director Sam Raimi has revealed

Tobey Maguire and co-stars will start filming Spiderman 4 in February next year, director Sam Raimi has revealed.
The cast will return once again for the fourth instalment of the hit superhero film, also starring Kirsten Dunst.
Raimi said: “The next instalment begins shooting, I believe, in February 2010.”
He added: “As far as we’re concerned, that’s no time left because they need so much time to work on the screenplay, casting is long, and the storyboarding and the shots are very, very complicated.”
He added: “There’s a lot of animation, there’s a lot of character design, costume design.
“It’s like making an animated film and a live-action film. I’ll just barely be ready.”

Tobey Maguire Takes on Formula One

Tobey Maguire’s production company is acquiring the film rights to “The Limit,” Michael Cannell’s upcoming book about the 1961 Formula One season.
That year, Phil Hill battled the German driver Wolfgang von Trips for the world championship. “And in one of racing’s grimmest calamities, Hill’s teammate and rival, Wolfgang von Trips, died in a crash that also killed 13 spectators during the 1961 Grand Prix of Italy,” Bruce Weber wrote in The Times last year. “Hill won that race, and with it the championship of Formula One, the highest class of open-wheel racing. He remains the only American-born driver to do so.” Mr. Maguire would star as Hill, who died last year at the age of 82. Read the rest of this entry »

Tobey Maguire set for ‘The Limit’

Columbia Pictures is closing in on a deal to acquire screen rights to “The Limit,” with Tobey Maguire attached to star in the story of rival Grand Prix drivers.
Anthony Peckham will write the script, based on a book by Michael Cannell that will be published this fall by the Hachette Publishing division Twelve.
Maguire is attached to play Phil Hill, who went against his good friend and Ferrari teammate Wolfgang von Trips in the 1961 Driver’s Championship.
Maguire and Jenno Topping will produce for Maguire Entertainment, and Cathy Schulman will produce for Mandalay Pictures, with Scarlett Lacey involved in a producing capacity as well.
Peckham recently scripted “The Human Factor,” the Clint Eastwood-directed Warner Bros. film that stars Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon, as well as “Sherlock Holmes,” the Guy Ritchie-directed film that stars Robert Downey Jr.
CAA brokered the film rights deal and Peckham is repped by WMA.
